Unmistakable fish for its shape and flavour. It belongs to anchovies family and actually these two varieties can be cooked the same way. Best sardines are caught in spring, but they’re tasty in every month of the year. A proverb tells: “sarda di jnnaru, vopa di marzu”. In dialect it is called “sarda”, plural “sardi”.
